💋 Is it just me or is there a lot of adult-themed imagery hidden within children's movies these days? 💋

Yes I have noticed that myself in movies I have watched from Disney

Not just these days, it's been that way for a long time. And it's much more than just sexual connotations. lol
says ForkNdaRoad on May 14th 17 (#2566609)
Sexual innuendo has been part of Disney and other Childrens entertainment for so long Tiff , this will be a fun post
says Darkest_Serenity on May 14th 17 (#2566625)
There is no proof that sexual innuendo has been part of Disney...
If you mean there has always been adult humor in children's movies, you are right. Too lure the child, you have to hook in the parents.

Most people know about the drug references in Alice in Wonderland so it is nothing new.
says Tiffanee on May 14th 17 (#2566626)
There were "drug references" in the book, along with political ones, class structure, and how children were treated back then.

says OzSurfer on May 15th 17 (#2566967)
I had no idea that this happened in childrens movies. I guess I don't watch them though.
says OzSurfer on May 15th 17 (#2566971)
I think that has been for a long time, and I honestly think it's a game they have played from the start, how do you secretly slip adult themes into this... either for entainment fun for those who made it for the ones that are quick, and some is planned, with trying to keep adults half way interested and willing to let the kids watch it a couple of times.
says Zolfie on May 15th 17 (#2566981)
Been that way probably even before books and television were invented. They don't call it the 'oral' tradition for nothing.

Has anyone ever paid attention to shirley temple films?
says Carla on May 15th 17 (#2567022)
You're probably right, but I haven't watched the kids' movies for a very long time.

Look no further than human biology. In general, adults are predatory, territorial, manipulative, and powerful, whilst children are born the exact opposite and take years to develop, some faster than others. The adults take advantage of this fact to attract more of their kind, thinking that children won't see/hear the otherwise "age-restricted" content, but many a well-informed youngster will gladly point it out.

A LOT. It's disturbing
