Do you ever watch your favorite movies with the commentary tracks on? I just watched Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 with James Gunn's marvelous (no pun intended) commentary, flowing around like a maniac in rubber underwear, as subtitles. Extremely interesting bits about his friends and family, insights to his working style and views on the scenes/themes/interactions between different characters...

Apparently he really didn't want to kill the big blue, since he's one of his best friends in the real world, but the story has to come first... Also, he had put half of his relatives in the movie, only to kill them off. Well, everybody, but his brother, Sean.

I got the part with Yondu but I lost track after that so you're talking about a real guy not a character

Yeah, Rooker and Gunn are best friends, but then again pretty much all of the Ravagers are his friends. When Ego gets the implanted seeds going, the blobs kill off Gunn's parents (credited as "Weird Old Man" and "Weird Old Man's Mistress"), a couple of nieces, a nephew and at least one of his brothers + his sister-in-law...

So did I. The score is awesome, oddly enough it's the same piece of music that plays, when Ego and Star-Lord are playing catch with the energy ball, as in "father and son" theme...

It started all so good, until you realized that Ego **** every sentient being in the galaxy to procure a child with his genes.

Oh, it wasn't mentioned in the video... Some of the skulls were more or less recognizable as references to other franchises.
