Not having someone else to cook for and with. I don't mind the prep or cleanup. I fill the waiting by doing the cleanup and other chores as I go, so that's usually not an issue.

Yep. Nothing like the look on a significant other's face when they love what you make for them. I also clean up as I go along, dishes, wipe up, and such.

Same here....eh even when I'm home alone preparing lunch for myself I can not sit down to eat my lunch UNTIL the ingredients I used to make my lunch are put away, as well as the utensils(even if it was just a butter knife) are washed and put away lol!! :)

JD, I also love changing things up in a recipe....my daughter came home from a sleepover this past weekend and told me about her friend's mom using crushed up Flaming Hot Cheetos as the breading for her chicken nuggets recipe, that all their friends loved, and wants me to make it the same way the next time we're having chicken for dinner.

I forgot about the ONIONS!!! I love cooking, but cutting certain type of onions that hurt your eyes IS the worst part of cooking that calls for those type of onions in that recipe.

When other People cook in my Kitchen and cause absolute Chaos (like My Daughter) who is a Superb Cook. I tidy up as I go along because I can't stand disorganization everything has it's place so we can find what we need when we need it and by the time the meal/cake etc is in the Oven you wouldn't even know I'd been cooking. but not when others cook , my Kitchen looks like a flipping Coke factory when C cooks (xp) but it is nice to see her enjoy cooking so much. https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Lb6P...uppet-show.gif I stay out of the Kitchen when others cook or I tidy up and that annoys them not surprised when I'm putting ingredients away they are yet to use or washing spoons or sweeping flour up off the floor.(mischief)(hehe) lolz

Washing the pots and pans afterwards, especially if I've used the deep cast iron skillet. I don't mind it very much, but it is my least favorite part. As mentioned, it's worth it in the end...especially when a loved one enjoys what I've prepared, too.

says azlotto on Jun 11th 18 (#2776699)

The one I use most often, is probably almost as old as I am. Some stuff just tastes better when cooked in a cast iron skillet, seems to me.

I have a cast iron skillet and a Magnalite skillet. When the food is out of them, I put a little water in it and heat it up, easy clean up.

I've not had to use that method with the cast iron skillet, but it works pretty well with the stainless steel cookware. Thanks DD.. :)

I dislike sautéing because I hate getting splattered with hot oil. I hate chopping, especially onions, for obvious reasons. I actually enjoy listening to a good podcast while cooking something delicious (this week I'm making sopa de albóndigas), but there are parts of it that are tedious.

I LOVE to cook.....I clean up the mess on the counters and hand wash all the pots/pans/utensils I had used while I'm waiting for something on the stove or in the oven to finish cooking for the next step in my recipe. So there's really never that much of a clean up by the time everything is done, except for the dishes, forks and knives that were used to eat my AWESOME meal, that I have my kids put in the dishwasher after we're all done eating :)
